IN LOVING MEMORY
OF A DEVOTED HUSBAND AND FATHER
ALFRED ERNEST YOUNG
WHO DIED 25TH SEPTEMBER 1961
ALSO THOMASINA DEAR WIFE OF THE ABOVE
WHO DIED 8th May 1974, AGED 93 YEARS

This is the grave of my grandparents Alfred Ernest Young and Thomasina Johnston Young which I have often visited over a period of 59 years. The colour of the red metal poppies is fading, and the Autumn leaves are clearly visible. Unfortunately, after years of research, I still do not have any WW1 records for Alfred which is especially disappointing as I have, located records for over a hundred descendants of WW1 veterans.

SUMMER 2020

I am grateful to Nigel and Dominick for clearing the grave of nettles and stained stones and replacing with the grey chippings. Cleaning of the gravestone scheduled for 2021, sixty years after the grave plot was purchased.

More writing about Alfred Ernest Young is in progress. Meanwhile two documents can be found in the Post, including a story for children.
