St Hilda's Churchyard: removal of skeletons prior to the building of the ASDA Superstore in South Shields in 2009

It was due to this notice in the Shield's Gazette in April 2009 that I started my research into not only the removal of skeletons from the proposed development of the Asda Store, but the wider issue of the missing gravestones for thousands of burials. Writing in July 2020

However, I am taking this opportunity, firstly to share information on the 2009 issue but also my research on the demise of St Hilda's Graveyard.
